Truck Driver HR

  • 38 hour week 
  • 9 day fortnight with RDO
  • 2 Permanent Full-Time positions available based out of our Erina or Charmhaven Depot

About the role

The Truck Driver HR position plays a critical role in delivering haulage services that support Council operations. This position is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient transport while upholding quality customer service standards that add value to the community.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Key activities of this role include: 

  • Safely operate a bogie axle Heavy Rigid truck in accordance with traffic regulations and legal load limits.
  • Maximise truck utilisation by minimising waste, selecting efficient routes, and ensuring onsite movements do not disrupt other activities.
  • Comply with National Heavy Vehicle Regulator requirements, including Heavy Vehicle Fatigue Management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
  • Undertake loading, driving, tipping and water cart operations in line with legislation, Council policies/procedures, and regulator requirements.
  • Complete daily truck/plant inspections, record findings, and report servicing/repair and any safety issues to the workshop supervisor.
  • Perform labouring and other duties as directed, consistent with skills, training and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current (HR) Heavy Rigid Driver’s Licence
  • Current SafeWork NSW general construction induction card
  • Current working near overhead powerlines accreditation or commitment to obtain within a specified time
  • Current RMS NSW Traffic Control Stop/Slow accreditation or commitment to obtain within a specified time

You will also have:

  • Experience operating bogie axle tippers and water carts in civil maintenance and construction.
  • Experience performing general labouring duties in civil maintenance and construction.
  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle compliance and safety, including NHVR fatigue management (GVM >12t), Chain of Responsibility (CoR), load restraint, and vehicle operating/inspection procedures (incl. minor maintenance requests).

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to $1,221.22 per week. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $1,468.03 per week on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation 
  • We have a permanent full-time role available
  • This role will be able to access a 9-day fortnight
  • This role is located at the Erina or Charmhaven Depot
